Hi,
I am a neurotypical doctoral student at the University of Windsor. I am doing my dissertation study on sexuality and its social context in the lives of people on the autism spectrum. I am looking for someone on the spectrum who would be interested in acting as an adviser on my study. I will provide an honorarium in appreciation of your time and expertise.
My study is an investigation of sexuality and romance as it is experienced by people with ASD. I am interested in people's personal accounts. I am also interested in the social and legal context of those accounts. For example, how do laws and service policies impact sexuality?
If this sounds interesting to you, please consider acting as my adviser. You don't need research expertise. You do have to be comfortable talking generally about sexuality and romance. Familiarity with the broader autism/autistic community would be a plus, but it's not necessary. You would be advising me on things like: topics I should ask about, how to communicate ideas appropriately, ASD internet resources, and the creation of an end product for the community.
If you are interested in this research and would like to help guide it, please leave a comment below or contact me at barnettj@uwindsor.ca. I look forward to meeting you!
