An online Chat room support group will meet this Monday, evening,Feb. 4 in the Main Chat room....Meet you there!

Some members of GRASP, have discovered that it is not always easy to visit in the chat room, as we are not always "there", at the same time.

We will be meeting this Monday, Feb. 4, in the online main chat room at 9P.M. EST/ 8P.M. CST/ 7P.M. MST/ and 6P.M. PST.

This may be interesting to new members (like myself), people who are seeking diagnosis, some adults who may think that they are somewhere on the spectrum, people who do not have access to a support group in their community, and is an open meeting to any GRASP member.

Since joining GRASP just a few weeks ago, I have enjoyed visiting with several people in the chat room, and found support, and recommendations of reading material, as well as a feeling of community.

As an adult, I've often thought I might be a person on the spectrum, somewhere. So, in January I began to do research on aspergers through Google, and what I learned made me feel more certain.I also found GRASP, and new friends through the chat room.  I'm presently reading The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome, by Dr. Tony Attwood, as well as Aspergirls: Empowering Females with Asperger Syndrome, by Rudy Simone, and certainly feel a sense identification, as well as more clarity about myself.

I like to blog, and have authored two blogs over the past two years, one on Early Childhood Education, and the other for Creative Writing. so I have learned the support and friendships that are possible online.

I also can be a bit wordy, and so must thank you if you've been patient enough to read to the end of this post.

I will be looking forward to meeting on Monday - hope to see you there!  :)

Just an additional comment, I hope the wording of this post hasn't put anyone off. The support group meeting will hopefully be very loosely organized, so to speak. Just a good opportunity to visit, and share, and make friendships.

I have found messageboards are extremely useful but not always for meetings. Is there a way to make it a bit more organizational, such as applying Robert's Rules of Order? I mean I know it is a chat and all and I don't want people to hate me but it seemed things went far to fast. Also, is there a message board on here?

Hi, Tiffany, what are message boards, is that for posting events?
Maybe you could suggest this when we meet on Monday, although it went fast, I didn't find it hard to keep track, but you certainly have a point.
Thanks for your input, and please bring it up when we get together. I'm really glad you made it this evening.
