A brief good news for me

I moved to Boston start of January and began a new job.  Yay, it's going well!  I got a chance to work at what I'm good at and did a lot there.  Exhausted --- but the results were good and I'm getting recognized for it.  People are asking me about the details, and they're learning from what I found.  I finally, a month and a half in, feel like it's been a good start now.  I work in software for an online web-only retailer of home goods.  A negative point is that to do all this work, I've had to…See More

Newtown is a mental health and a rising IQ crisis

I put the following on my Facebook status:Akhil Amar on Up! With Chris Hayes is pushing clarity. There's a core right in the USA to own a gun, in the Bill of RIghts. Moral obscenity panics about mass murderers won't alter that. We have a mental health crisis. When mental health meets desperation, abandonment, and psychopathy, people find guns. Causes are clear. Mental health can be better followed and cared for. The simplest way to deal with this is to give mentally ill people money, get them…See More

A fax sent to the house committee

I faxed the following to the house oversight committee.  Thanks, Grasp for explaining how to do it.Hello, I listened to the committee hearing on autism via CSPAN-3.  I deeply appreciate that attention is being given to autistic people.  I'm an adult with some Aspergers, working.  I've never gone on disability.  Like Michael John Carley, I'm proof that it is possible for us to overcome our deficits by using our strengths.  But it's vital that children with Autism get appropriate aid and social…See More

The House Committee meeting on Autism

I was able to listen to the congressional testimony today.  I thought Ari Nee'man was best, although the Autism Society person was good too.  Michael John Carley needed to force himself to relax alas.  It's a fake skill, but it makes a difference.  I thought Michael expressed that autistic adults were insulted when actually they were ignored (except by Eleanor Holmes Norton).  In addition, Michael followed McGarry, who spoke respectfully about the potential of autistics to graduate from…See More

Hackers with Aspergers?

I was fascinated by the news piece in the recent GRASP press summary about hackers.  It was http://news.cnet.com/8301-1009_3-57507160-83/aspergers-study-asks-are-hackers-cognitively-different/As an IT person who has a very close friend who was a "den mother" at Project Hope, perhaps I can comment half-intelligently.The article was about a study of hackers who attended hackers'…See More

an introduction

This is an intro I put a year ago on my LiveJournal page:  "Life Navigation as an HFA Aspie":life navigation.I'm having a lot of work issues lately.  Mostly from a new boss who's bullied me to take assignments that are either not in my main skill area or which are overloading my availability.  I told one person I feel like I have 4 clones being assigned to but who aren't paid and who don't do anything.  We have many open…See More
