What's the point

I've been reading books and posts here.  I can relate to a lot of the symptoms described.  Two of my three children had great difficulty learning to read and were sensitive to loud noises and things like that.  We all are "different" socially, not fitting in easily and we all can get "overwhelmed" by too much emotion, stress, being around people.  My psychologist once described my personality as "flat" and my voice monotone. But as adults, what is the benefit of being diagnosed? Hello!  I'm responding to your post because I've had a very similar experience. The therapist I was seeing, who diagnosed me with AS, also described me as unemotional.  She probably used different words, but the meaning was the same.  That limited emotional range and the way I speak were the main reasons that she knew I had Aspergers Syndrome.  I also have a son and daughter.  Our 8-year old son, if not our daughter, has many Aspergers-like traits.  I am 46 years old, with a wife and 2 children.  It's great to find other people with similar experiences!
