Welcome to the GRASP resources for New York Autistic Spectrum Disorder s (ASD) and Asperger Syndrome.  We list here some organizations that you can reach out to for assistance and support in New York.  GRASP has several active support groups in New York and we invite you to help us expand our network of support groups.  Visit our page that tells you how to start an Asperger & ASD Support Group in New York.

 

GRASP Support Groups for People with Asperger & Autistic Spectrum Disorders in New York

GRASP has a supports groups in  New York City and nearby suburbs and in upstate New York.  They meet monthly and are free.  You must enroll as a member though to participate regularly. The support groups are an opportunity for adults with high-functioning autism and Asperger's Syndrome to spend some time together.  We create a safe and friendly social environment for people on the autism spectrum (diagnosed or self-identified) to support each other. It is a statement of our independence that we meet and interact without the inter mediating presence of neurotypical people.  For specific information on how to participate visit our pages for

Programs that take Medicaid

The Fay J. Lindner Center for Autism & Developmental Disabilities: a comprehensive outpatient assessment and treatment program providing clinical care to individuals across their lifespan. Services include clinical care, research, program consultation, training, community education, resource information, and advocacy. Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Autism Parent Support Group:

Who: All parents and caregivers of children with autism (The group is free and open to the public.)

When: The first Monday of every month at 10:00am
Where: 1650 Grand Concourse (Main hospital building) in Murray-Cohen Auditorium
What: All meetings are held in English and Spanish. Monthly discussion topics include legal advocacy, educational services and social support.
