Los Angeles, CA

Welcome to the Los Angeles, California GRASP support group !

GRASP Los Angeles is a support group for adults on the Asperger Spectrum - to meet each other, talk about things on your mind, and get support and feedback from others.

MEETING DATES:  We generally meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month from 7 - 9 pm. But please see the GRASP calendar for upcoming meeting dates - sometimes we need to change the dates to accomodate members.

LOCATION: We meet at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services, 3200 Motor Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90034-3740. You can find a map by using this link.  Use this link for the website for Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services.

Please subscribe to the Los Angeles Group to be updated on our location and meetig dates.

MEETING FORMAT: The meeting starts with light refreshments and conversation (at your discretion) from 7:00 to 7:30 pm. The main part of the meeting is a discussion of a topic of interest from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Those who wish may remain for announcements, questions and answers, and general sharing from 8:30 to 9:00 pm.

DIRECTIONS:

Directions to Vista del Mar campus at 3200 Motor Avenue in West Los Angeles:

From the east: Take Santa Monica Freeway (10 Freeway) westbound. Take National Boulevard exit. At the signal, go straight onto Manning Avenue. At the next signal, turn left on Motor Avenue. Just before you get to the 10 Freeway overpass, turn left into the Vista del Mar campus driveway.

From the west: Take Santa Monica Freeway (10 Freeway) eastbound. Take the first exit after the 405 Freeway (Overland/National). Get into the left lane. At the signal, turn left on National Boulevard. Stay in the left lane. At the next signal, turn left (you’ll still be on National Boulevard – it can be a confusing intersection). Stay in the left lane. At the next signal, turn left on Motor Avenue. Go under the freeway overpass. Turn right into the first driveway after the overpass.

Directions to the Reiss-Davis Community Room:

Once at Vista del Mar, go past the guard kiosk and proceed on the road that goes slightly to the left. At the first stop sign, turn right. The Reiss-Davis Clinic will be on the left. Because the meeting is after hours, you may park in any space (except handicapped spaces). The meeting room faces the parking area. A balloon will guide you to the meeting room entrance.

(The Reiss-Davis Child Study Center is in the same building as the Julia Ann Singer Center, but in a different wing.)

CONTACT: You can contact Marilyn, our GRASP Los Angeles facilitator, by using the contact form at the bottom of this page.

WHO CAN ATTEND?: Anyone on the spectrum is invited, plus those in support roles if they clearly identify their role. Membership information is kept through the main GRASP office, so you must subscribe before you can attend.  This allows your membership to remain as anonymous as you desire.  We respectfully request that anyone in attendance not share with others the names of anyone else they have seen at a meeting.

COST: All GRASP groups are absolutely FREE to attend. However, GRASP survives on funding from foundations, corporations, and generous individuals. If you wish to donate to GRASP, we would gratefully appreciate it (and we’re almost certain to need it). You can make a tax-deductible donation with a credit card via our DONATE page or mail your check made out to GRASP to: GRASP, 666 Broadway, Suite 825, New York, NY 10012

(out of over 6,500 people, we've luckily only had to use this 7 times.
But there'll be more— we are vulnerable by design as we do not demand that everyone bring often-expensive proof of diagnosis)
